When you sign up for the newsletter, or join the guild, we like to say hello.
“I just signed up for the newsletter…”
Good to have you aboard. We send our newsletter every Friday, if new content has been added to the website. We want everyone to be kept up to date, therefore ‘Friends of the Guild’ will receive much of the same information as ‘Guild Members.’
“I recently joined the Guild…”
Welcome. If you have been getting the newsletter, you know how it works. In addition, there are times when the newsletter is sent to ‘Guild Members’ only, when the information needs to be internal. So, you may receive some special email from time to time.
What better time to touch base with the guild’s roots? Here’s our story…
In 1969 a group of local potters launched the guild. They met monthly, just as we do today. The following is an excerpt from our original constitution….
The objectives of the TVPG shall be:
To bring together potters and ceramists in the Thompson Valley area in BC in a group for their mutual advantage.
To endeavor to improve the standards of ceramic work in the Thompson Valley by education of the membership and the public.
To promote exhibitions of members’ work at such places as may be decided upon.
To endeavor to expand the choice of ceramic books in the local library and to bring in films or slides on a loan basis on ceramic subjects for the use of members.
To hold meetings and provide lecturers and/or workshops each month or as otherwise agreed upon.
To affiliate or collaborate with other groups of potters or other craftsmen in Canada, the United States or elsewhere as may be decided upon.
To carry on such other activities as may be decided upon from time to time, of an artistic, educational or social character
