Thompson valley potters’ guild Lifetime Member Enid Damer
She considered herself a “serious hobbyist” rather than a production potter and obtained her training through frequent workshops sponsored by the Guild. Enid created functional ware, with an emphasis on thrown and carved pieces in brown stoneware, with the texture left unglazed. She concentrated on form and function and the results were pots with an inner integrity. A teacher to both beginners and seniors, she was very generous with her knowledge and expertise. She was also very involved in the Arts community over the years, and held the position of President to both the Arts & Crafts Club and the Thompson Valley Potters’ Guild, as well as, being active with the Community Arts Council and the Kamloops Art Gallery. Enid retired from pottery in 2000, leaving a legacy of beautiful pots and inspired protégés
